The wellness educational consultations at our Austin Integrative Medicine center are not intended to serve as medical advice for treatment. Instead, they are intended to provide healthcare information to work with your own personal healthcare provider.

The consultation is intended to address your questions and concerns regarding the effects of environmental toxins on your health and wellbeing. Dr. Taylor will discuss the various environmental toxins and their health effects, and your body’s factors, that determine your personal sensitivity to toxins. He will also review the role of the brain’s stress and threat response center, as well as the limbic system and the role it plays in health and wellness.

Dr. Taylor may also discuss nutrients for wellness, along with diet and lifestyle changes. Options for nutrient, vitamin and mineral supplementation, including recommended dosages, may be covered during the wellness educational consultations.
Lab testing and prescription drugs are not available with this service, although Dr. Taylor can discuss options for testing that are available to the general public.

A Deeper Look At Environmental Toxins During The Wellness Educational Consultation

Some environmental toxins that Dr. Taylor may address during wellness educational consultations include mycotoxins due to exposure to toxic indoor mold, pathogens such as the germ that causes Lyme disease and other Lyme co-infection germs, the health effects of viruses, toxic chemicals such as pesticides and glyphosate, and toxic metals like mercury and lead.

The team at our Austin Integrative Medicine center explains some factors accounting for increased sensitivity to toxins, including MTHFR/methylation, glutathione, genetics, neurotransmitter balance, immune inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction and the effects of nutrient deficiencies. Dr. Taylor may review these causes in more depth during wellness educational consultations.

Who would benefit from a consultation with Dr. Taylor?

If you have individual questions or concerns about what you need to know to maintain maximum health and wellness from the adverse effects of today’s toxic environment, a one to one consultation with Dr. Taylor is right for you.

Will Dr. Taylor provide medical advice or treatment?

No, this consultation is not intended to diagnose or treat any condition or to replace treatment by your own licensed healthcare professional. This consult is to provide you individual information about health and wellness only.

Will a medical record be generated from my one to one visit with Dr. Taylor?

No, since this is not a medical service and does not create a physician-patient relationship, a medical record is not maintained. As a courtesy, if you consent, a video recording of the wellness consultation will be made available to you for 30 days after the consultation. You may download this if you choose.

Can Dr. Taylor review my labs?

Since this is not a medical visit, Dr. Taylor will not be able to review your labs. He is able to answer specific questions you may have about the possible implications of certain abnormal labs and various findings you may have.

Can Dr. Taylor order lab work or other tests for me?

No, since this is not a medical visit, Dr. Taylor cannot order labs that require the signature of a licensed healthcare provider.  Many lab tests are now available direct to consumer and Dr. Taylor can discuss these with you.

Can Dr. Taylor prescribe medicines to me?

No, since this is not a medical visit, Dr. Taylor cannot prescribe you any medicines. Dr. Taylor can discuss many other possible interventions to enhance health, wellness and longevity including nutritional supplements, diet, exercise, stress management tools, etc.

Can Dr. Taylor provide medical care to me?

Dr. Taylor is accepting new patients for medical treatment at his Austin, Texas office. Texas residents may be evaluated for medical care via a telemedicine appointment (video conference call). You can arrange this through his Texas Integrative Medicine office at 512-800-5309 or by emailing to [email protected].

Dining out can be difficult for the simple fact that you don’t really know all that goes into your food. What kind of oils are they using? Is the food organic? As much as I enjoy living and choosing healthy, I definitely don’t want to give up eating out sometimes! So, what’s the solution?
Choose healthy restaurants that tell you where they get their food. Locally sourced food is likely to be packed with more nutrients, as it hasn’t been sitting on a shelf or truck for months before it reaches your plate. Salads are a great option, but be mindful of what goes on there! Ask to add on good healthy veggies and take away all the junk and substitute the dressing if needed!

A vegan, oil free twist on a classic! Vegetable "Unfried" Rice! This is a great way to utilize leftover rice and veggies. ⁠⠀
Fun Fact: In medieval times, people wore garlic around their necks to ward off werewolves. These days, garlic is used to fight off diseases like the modern day werewolf, cancer. “In a test tube study measuring the anticancer properties of a number of vegetables, garlic was the most effective.” (Eating on the wild side). I personally add garlic to just about every dish I make, due to its “anti” properties such as antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, anti clotting, and anticancer. ⁠

Ingredients:⁠⠀
1 TBS Tahini⁠⠀
2 TBS liquid aminos (this is a no salt added substitute for soy sauce, Braggs Liquid Aminos)⁠⠀
1 teaspoon rice vinegar ⁠⠀
¼-1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)⁠⠀
1 red onion, finely chopped⁠⠀
1 large carrot, peeled into slices⁠⠀
2 cups broccoli florets ⁠⠀
2 garlic cloves, minced (add more to your liking)⁠⠀
3 cups brown rice ⁠⠀
A pinch of cilantro⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Begin by getting the brown rice started if it’s not already cooked. Then, combine the liquid aminos, tahini, vinegar, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Stir in ¼ cup of water and set aside. ⁠⠀
Heat ¼ cup of water in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the onion and carrot, and cook until softened. About 5 minutes. Add in the broccoli and garlic and cook for about 4 more minutes, continuing to stir. Add the rice, and stir until hot and well combined! Additionally, feel free to add as much cilantro as you personally enjoy. For my family, we add about a handful to each plate! Enjoy! ⁠⠀
