3 ways to Improve Detoxification
Did you know our ability or inability to detoxify is a major key to health?
We can picture this like a train track. As long as the track stays connected everything works well. But a break in the tracks can cause symptoms, illness, and disease ranging from chronic pain, to irritable bowel and related digestive illnesses, heart disease, and much more.
There are several ways to improve your detoxification pathways, and in this article we will discuss three.
Eat to Detox
The first and easiest way is to eat your way to improved detoxification. How do you do that?
I think one of easiest things to do is NOT to focus your entire meal on detoxifying.
You should enjoy your meal and simply add some of the following TO your foods and meals:
- Broccoli sprouts
- Collard greens
- Mustard greens
- Cabbage/chinese cabbage
- Bok choy
They can be cooked, steamed or similar. Or easier yet, simply add one or two to the side of your meal or on top of your salad.
Specific Nutrients for Detoxification
The second way to improve detoxification is adding specific nutrients that aid in the detoxification process. Some of the more well-known and common nutrients include NAC (N Acetyal Choline), milk thistle and glutathione. Glutathione is known as the MASTER detoxifier. Toxins, medications, stress and infections can all deplete glutathione which is made in the body. B6, B12 and folate all come together to create a glutathione molecule. Supplementing with one of these nutrients can prove very helpful to supporting your detoxification process.
Learn About your Detoxifying Genes
The third way to improve detoxification is to support your specific genetic nature. It’s very common these days that people are learning more about their genes. The MTHF is probably one of these most common. There are other genes involved such as GSTM1 and GSTP2, which help to make glutathione. The MTHF-folate supports methylation, an integral part of the detoxification process.
We are learning that our genes no longer dictate our health. By learning your specific, unique genetic make-up and weaknesses, then we are able to support those areas with lifestyle modifications, and nutrients to optimize your ability to detoxify and live a healthier life.
I encourage you to try one of more of these ideas for 30 days to experience the benefits of improved detoxification.
